Taryn Laleen Drummond

Taryn Laleen was surrounded by culture as a child in which she developed a strong connection with her indigenous roots. Taryn has a heritage from both the Mainland Aboriginal people, and the Torres Strait Islands, mainland, (Yidinji Tribe Cairns), (WuthathiTribe Shelbourne Bay) and the (Ku Ku Yalangi Tribe Mossman), and the Torres Strait, Moa, Darnley, and Yam Islands. Taryn began her career with the Jabiru and Kunjal dance troupes which saw her tour to the Cook Islands in 1992. Taryn has a Diploma in Dance from NAISDA (National Aboriginal & Islander Skills Development Association) Dance College in Sydney, Australia, in her final year Taryn performed at the 1996 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony in Atlanta, GA., with the highly acclaimed Bangarra Dance Theatre. Taryn Was a key performer for the Naroo Dance Company in Sydney throughout the nineties, which latter became the internationally successful Descendance Dance Company. Taryn also performed for ‘A.I.D.T. (Aboriginal & Islander Dancer Theatre) Taryn currently conducts cultural workshops and lectures in schools, colleges and other educational institutions. Taryn has performed and taught extensively in Australia and has shared her indigenous culture in Europe, Asia, New Zealand, Cook Islands, Palau and USA.
