Reuben Doolah is one of Sydney’s most experienced traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait island dancers, and has been performing professionally since 1986. Reuben studied dance at NAISDA College in Sydney, before finishing his degree at the Aboriginal Dance Theatre in Redfern. Reuben’s heritage is from the culturally enriched Murray and Darnley islands in the Torres Strait North of Queensland. A foundation member of the legendary Ngaru Aboriginal & Torres Strait Dance Company, Sydney’s first independent professional indigenous dance troupe formed in Sydney in 1993. Reuben is a also dance teacher and conducts workshops in schools around Australia, in both traditional and contemporary dance styles.

Reuben is part of the historic “Red Centre Dreaming” tour of Europe. “Red Centre Dreaming” the record breaking indigenous tour covered Italy, England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark & France in 2002. The Red Centre Dreaming tour performed to over 100,000 people in over 300 live appearances, the tour gained coverage in over 15 countries. Reuben also performed for the Queen of England on this tour to celebrate the Jubilee celebrations.
